Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Shoptey collects when you visit shoptey.com or sign up as a merchant, why, and who it's shared with. It covers shoptey.com and app.shoptey.com (the merchant dashboard, which has no separate policy of its own) — not your own store's customers, who are covered by the separate storefront Privacy Policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information: your email address and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text).
Store information: your store name, URL, chosen language and currency.
Payment setup: your Stripe-connected account ID and its onboarding/verification status. We never see or store your bank details, card numbers, or Stripe login — that relationship is directly between you and Stripe.
Product images you upload, stored on our behalf by Cloudflare R2.
2. How we use it
To operate your account and store, process payments through Stripe, send you transactional emails (verification, order-related notices), and enforce these Terms (for example, suspending stores that violate them).
3. Who we share it with
Stripe, to process payments and run Connect account verification. Sendgrid, to deliver transactional emails. Cloudflare R2, to host your product images. Railway, our hosting provider. If you accept analytics cookies on shoptey.com, Google (Google Analytics) — see Cookies below. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone else except where required by law.
4. Cookies
On shoptey.com and app.shoptey.com, we use a cookie to remember your language preference (shoptey_locale) and, on app.shoptey.com, a session cookie to keep you signed in (shoptey_session). Neither requires consent — they're strictly necessary for the site to function.
On shoptey.com, we'd also like to use Google Analytics to understand site traffic. This only runs if you accept it in the cookie banner — it's off by default, and declining or ignoring the banner means it never loads. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.
5. Data retention
We keep your account and store data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after closure to comply with financial record-keeping obligations tied to processed payments.
6. Your rights
You can access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data by contacting us at support@shoptey.com. If you're in the EEA/UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Security
Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. Payment details never pass through our servers. We use industry-standard practices to protect the data we do hold, but no system is completely immune to risk.
8. Changes to this policy
We'll update the date at the top of this page whenever this policy changes materially.
